Job Title: Financial Administrator (Bookeeper/Accountant)

Description:
This is a part-time (5-10 hours/week) position with flexible days/hours from either a home office or ACIC’s Halifax office. Reporting to the Acting Executive Director, the Financial Administrator will work closely with a small staff team to maintain day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping for the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for the experienced professional looking to supplement existing work or looking for part-time work only.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly and annual financial reports to the Acting Executive Director
• Prepare and administer bi-weekly payroll and benefits (health and RRSP)
• Payroll remittances to CRA & WCB
• Accounts Receivable/Payable
• Monthly Bank Reconciliation
• HST Rebates (where applicable)
• Bank Deposits
• Audit preparation
• Provide ongoing recommendations for improvements to financial policies and processes
• Meet with ACIC staff on a regular basis
• Filing

Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education (university degree and/or college diploma), related to the job requirements
• At least 5 years related general accounting experience
• Experience with financial software programs, including QuickBooks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience administering payroll and knowledge of related statutory requirements, including remittances
• Excellent attention to detail, with high degree of accuracy
• Demonstrated good judgment, high standards of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to communicate accounting principles and procedures to others
• Experience working with not-for-profit organizations considered an asset
