Qualifications
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required
- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in a restaurant is required
Job duties
- Prepare, cook, and present hot and cold appetizers and dishes such as Japanese style salad, miso soup, and Tataki with minimal supervision
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style deep fried dishes such as Takoyaki, Karaage, and Tempura with minimal supervision
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style grill dishes such as grilled fish and Japanese style skewer with minimal supervision
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style noodle dishes with minimal supervision
- Prepare and present Sushi and other rice dishes with minimal supervision
- Prepare Dashi (Japanese stock)
- Suggest/plan new menus and determine size of food portions and presentation of food
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
- Estimate food requirements and costs
- Order supplies and equipment
- Train new staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
- Supervise kitchen staff and helpers in preparation, cooking and handling of food
- Schedule staff
- Clean and Inspect kitchen and work areas
