Qualifications

- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required

- Completion of secondary (high) school is required

- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in a restaurant is required


Job duties

- Prepare, cook, and present Sashimi and other dishes handling fish and sea food such as tuna, salmon, mackerel, halibut, prawn, scallop, lobster, and Tobiko (flying fish roe) with minimal supervision

- Prepare, cook, and present Sushi and other rice dishes such as Ishiyaki (hot stone rice bowl) with minimal supervision

- Prepare, cook, and present cold appetizers and dishes such as salad, tartare, wraps and carpaccio with minimal supervision

- Prepare, cook, and present deep fried dishes such as Karaage, Tempura and Arancini with minimal supervision

- Prepare, cook, and present grill dishes such as stakes, short ribs and meatballs with minimal supervision

- Suggest/plan new menus and determine size of food portions and presentation of food

- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment

- Estimate food requirements and costs

- Order supplies and equipment

- Train new staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

- Supervise kitchen staff and helpers in preparation, cooking and handling of food

- Organize and manage buffets and banquets

- Manage kitchen operations

- Clean and Inspect kitchen and work areas
