Qualifications
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required
- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in a restaurant is required
Job duties
- Prepare, cook, and present hot and cold appetizers and dishes such as Japanese style salad, miso soup, Sashimi, and Tataki with minimal supervision;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style deep fried dishes such as Takoyaki, Karaage, and Ebimayo with minimal supervision;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style grill dishes such as grilled fish and Shoga-yaki (ginger pork) with minimal supervision;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style noodle dishes such as Ramen and Udon with minimal supervision;
- Prepare and cook Oden (Japanese style slow cooked hot pot) with minimal supervision;
- Prepare Dashi (Japanese stock);
- Suggest/plan new menus and determine size of food portions and presentation of food;
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
- Estimate food requirements and costs;
- Order supplies and equipment;
- Train new staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
- Supervise kitchen staff and helpers in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
- Schedule staff;
- Clean and Inspect kitchen and work areas
