Qualifications
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
- Completion of college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a relevant program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience is required
- 2 years to less than 3 years of experience as a hairstylist is required
- Ontario Hairstylist Licence is required
- Experience in permanents including Japanese hair straightening and digital permanent is required
Job duties
Hair Colouring duties:
Streaking/highlights; Bleach; Dyes/tints; Ombre; Balayage
Hair Styling duties:
Permanents (including Japanese hair straightening and digital permanent); Iron waving/curling; Extensions; Spiking; Roller setting; Pin curls; Blow drying; Hair braiding; Updo
Hairstylist Specific duties:
Clean and style wigs and hair pieces; Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features or determine style from client's instructions and preferences; Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair; Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for scalp and hair; Apply hair extensions; Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair
Barber Specific duties:
Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages; Cut and trim hair with scissors and clippers according to client's instructions or preferences
Additional duties
Shampoo customers' hair; Perform receptionist duties; Book appointments; Provide hair treatment
