Qualifications

- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required
- 3 years to less than 5 years of work experience as a cook/chef in a restaurant is required.
- Experience of working in a Japanese restaurant and/or Knowledge on Japanese cuisine are assets


Job duties

- Prepare and cook individual Japanese appetizers and dishes, course menus, and Japanese pastries and desserts;
- Control and manage requisition of food, kitchen supplies, and equipment;
- Oversee kitchen operation and clean and inspect kitchen and work areas;
- Plan and Create new recipes of pastry and dessert menus:
- Plan individual Japanese appetizers and dishes, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs;
- Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of Japanese dishes, appetizers, pastries and desserts;
- Supervise activities of cooks and kitchen staff in cooking operation;
- Recruit and hire new kitchen staff
