We are currently seeking an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to join our Team at our Wynyard Plant site in Wynyard, Saskatchewan.

The Wynyard Plant is located right on Big Quill Lake, in a friendly community of 1,800, situated 50 minutes from the city of Humboldt and a 2 hour drive from Saskatoon. Our Wynyard Plant is Canada’s largest producer of sulfate of potash (SOP), currently employing 34 people, with an annual production of 37,000 metric tonnes of SOP. Our product is used in pharmaceuticals, specialized agricultural fertilizer, animal food and in various industrial applications, serving our customers throughout North America, South America, Europe, and regions of Asia.

How will you contribute to the team?

Summary: This position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation work of mining infrastructure. The position will also be responsible for manning the various fixed plant services on site.

Essential Responsibilities and Requirements

Support and participate actively in all site-level Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security initiatives and comply with all OH&S policies and regulations.
Repair, assemble and/or disassemble gear boxes, pumps, and other machinery in accordance with proper specifications and techniques.

Maintain valves inclusive of packing, lubricating and disassembly/replacement/repair.

Learn and utilize the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Maintenance Module at an appropriate level (Generate work order requests, data entry, close out work orders, etc.)

Lubricate and inspect assigned plant/shop equipment as per routine schedule.

Provide assessment of general equipment condition (e.g. unusual vibration, noise, and/or heat) and reports perceived problems to the proper authority.

Perform routine oil changes, filter changes, inspection, and basic maintenance and repair of plant and mobile equipment as required.

Clean and wash equipment and machinery.

Scrape paint, grease and accumulated material from equipment.

Paint and apply protective coatings.

Proficiently and safely operate common hand and power tools.

Pipe fitting in metallic and plastic piping systems.
Read and correctly interpret information contained in equipment and vendor manuals.

Perform blueprint interpretation and layout.
Assist with a wide variety of plant maintenance and/or upgrade procedures.

Conduct inspections related to the structural Asset Management Plan and complete follow-up repairs as assigned.

Respond to audible pages and intercom calls for assistance, diagnosis, and equipment repairs as required.

Ensure that work areas are maintained and left in a clean and safe fashion.

The ability to work in tight spaces, hot, wet, dry, and dusty environment(s), climb ladders/stairs, and retain a high degree of physical stamina for extended hours.

Be willing to work at heights.

Ability to work overtime as necessary
Be available for after hours and weekend on-call (In rotation with other maintenance personnel).

Qualifications
You bring to the role:

Education and Experience

Journeyperson certification in the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade. Apprentices may apply.

Five years of related experience in an industrial setting is preferred.

Must have or be able to obtain CWB Welding Certification.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, repair or replace equipment.

Be proficient in equipment rigging and hoisting techniques.

Proficiency with the operation of mobile equipment (Forklifts, Skid-Steer Loader, Wheel Loader, Aerial Personnel Platforms, Tractors, etc.).

Metal fabrication, welding, and cutting (Proficiency in operating SMAW (“stick”), GMAW (“mig”), Oxy-Fuel, Plasma welding and cutting equipment).

Basic carpentry skills.

Licenses: Possess a minimum of a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Computer Skills: The individual should possess basic proficiency with computers.
